About Me

Specializing in individual, children and family therapy, and maintains a private practice in Bandon, Oregon. It is my mission to promote personal growth, opportunities for healing, self-care, healthy habits of mind, body and spirit, and to offer support for clients seeking assistance. I endeavor to provide compassionate, professional counseling and education with respect for the dignity of persons of all cultures and beliefs.

Philosophy and Approach: I believe that life is an unfolding process, that everyone creates the masterpiece called life and is shaped by the individual. My body/mind approach treats each person holistically. My belief is that any aspect of life can be changed, emotional injuries can be healed, and coping skills can be learned.

Formal Education and Training: I received my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Alaska Pacific University.  Major coursework included Advanced Human Development, Brief Therapy, Social and Cultural Foundations, Counseling Theories and Practice, Career and Lifestyle Counseling. I have continued my education with studying EMDR, DBT, and Internal Family Systems. These approaches are used for treating trauma in a gentle and supportive way.

As a Licensee of the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists, I abide by its Code of Ethics, providing primary service to the client with integrity, confidentiality, and the high standards of conduct and competency to the client. To assure I provide the high quality of care and as required by the state I take continuing education classes annually to keep current with the subjects relevant to my counseling practice.

As a client, you have certain rights:
•    To expect that a licensee has met the minimum qualifications of training and experience by state law.
•    To examine public records maintained by the board and have the Board confirm the credentials of a licensee. http://www.oregon.gov/OBLPCT/index.shtml
•    To be entitled to a copy of the Code of Ethics. http://www.oregon.gov/OBLPCT/web-coe.shtml
•    To be informed of the cost of professional services before receiving the services
•    To be assured of privacy and confidentiality while receiving services as defined by rule and law, including the following exceptions: 1.) Reporting suspected child abuse; 2.) Reporting imminent danger to client or others; 3.) Reporting information required in court proceedings or by client’s insurance company, or other relevant agencies; 4.) Providing information concerning licensee case consultation or supervision; and 5.) Defending claims brought by client against licensee
•    To be free from being object of discrimination on the basis of race, religion, gender, or other unlawful category while receiving services.

Fees:
$110 per 50-minute session

Insurance:
Services may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan. Please check your coverage carefully.

Reduced Fee:
Reduced fee services are available on a limited basis. Please inquire if you feel you might qualify for this assistance.
